I get a lot of emails where people ask me tech and programming related questions. To give the best and detailed answer, I have to go to Google, research on the question and then switch back to Gmail to send the answer.
But now there is no need to do that, with this new labs feature, you can use Google search inside your Gmail interface. Since this feature is still in labs, it is not enabled by default.
How To Activate Google Search Inside Gmail Interface?
1. Click on settings link in the top right corner of Gmail interface.
2. On the settings page, click on the Labs Tab.
3. Scroll down to find the Google Search lab feature. Enable it and save the setting.

Once you enable the Google search feature inside Gmail, you’ll see a small Google Search box in the left sidebar of your Gmail Interface.

Type your query in this search box and press enter. A new windows with the search results will appear in the lower right of your Gmail interface.

If you click on any of the search results, it will open in new tab (or in a new browser window depending upon your browser). Also, if you hover over the search results, you’ll see a drop down menu, using which you can send the search result directly to the chat, email message etc.
Note that what appears in the drop down menu depends upon what you are doing at that time. For instance, if you are chatting with someone, say Mr. X, you can send the result to the chat by clicking on Send by chat to Mr. X. If you are not chatting with anyone, this option will not appear in the drop down menu.
Please let me know if you’d like to see more tutorials on Gmail features. Your feedback is necessary to improve HackTrix.
Enjoy!
