Going green is the mantra these days, and limiting the time when the printer is available in your office can be one more step towards an environment friendly office. Besides saving paper, you will also save money by spending less on ink if you ensure that the printer is available only for specified segment of time during the day.
How To Configure Printer’s Availability Time in Windows 7
To configure the time when your printer is available, go to Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers. This will open the Device and Printers Window.
Scroll down to find the section where Windows 7 lists the Printers and Faxes. Now, click on Customize your printer link for the printer for which you want to enforce the usage restrictions.
This will open the printer’s settings windows. In printer’s settings, click on the Advanced tab. In the advanced settings, Always Available will be selected by default. Instead of that, select the option that says, Available From, and then enter the time interval during which the printer should be available for use.
Note that you have to use military time in the time boxes to avoid any confusion between PM and AM time.
