Do you want to change the name of a Facebook page? May be you misspelled the name of the fan page, or may be you just want to rename it. Its not easy to change the name of Facebook page, and in most cases, you can’t change the name of Facebook page at all. Here’s all you need to know about renaming a Facebook page.
Changing The Name of Facebook Page
If your Facebook page has less then 100 fans, go to your fan page and click on ‘Edit Page’ in the right side bar. Then on the next page, click on the ‘Basic Information’ (normally its selected by default). You can now rename your fan page easily by changing the ‘Name’ field in the basic information.
The most important thing to note is that you can change the name of Facebook page only if it has less then 100 fans. If it has more then 100 fans, then:
• If the number of fans of your page is only slightly higher then 100, then you can ask your friends who are fans of the page to unlike the page, to make the number of likes less then 100. After that, change the name of Facebook page as explained above.
• If your Facebook page has much higher number of fans, then go to this request form to change Facebook page name.
But note that Facebook will change the name of your Facebook page only if the name of your business is changed or its misspelled. They might also consider any ‘other’ reason if its genuine, so if you want to change the name of your Facebook page, you should fill this form anyway.
Some people also suggest to create a new Facebook page with new name if you can’t rename a Facebook page. Its a good idea but it has two disadvantages, you will loose all your 100+ fans, and you will not get the same vanity url for the page, because the vanity url is not available for a long time even after a Facebook page is deleted.
