Display Only Icons in Taskbar of Windows Vista and XP

The latest buzz in the operating system world these days is Windows 7. It is claimed to be the best OS from Microsoft so far. There are many changes introduced in Windows 7. One of these is the clean and elegant Superbar. Superbar is basically just like the normal Windows Vista and XP taskbar, except that it shows only icons of the programs, unlike Windows Vista and XP, where the name of the program is also displayed.

No need to run to download Windows 7 now. You can get the Superbar in Windows Vista and XP using Taskbaric. Taskbaric is a free and portable Windows App that iconizes the Windows Vista and XP’s taskbar. Here’s how to use Taskbaric,

1. Download Taskbaric from this page.

2. Unzip the archive.

3. Since its a portable application, there is no need to install it. Just run the taskbaric file, and in few seconds you’ll see that your taskbar has been iconized.

iconize windows vista and xp taskbar

If you want the names of the programs back, just double click on the taskbaric.exe file again.

According to taskbaric’s developers, this application doesn’t modify any system files, neither it stays in memory. So, its safe to just try it once. Keep it if you like it :)

Same executable can be used both for Windows Vista and XP.
